“Poroshenko has not yet been arrested, detained, placed in a pre-trial detention center, and, although these criminal cases, of course, give him a lot of trouble and headache, so far they don’t carry a significant threat to him,” Bezpalko said.

He believes that these investigations can be viewed in the context of the PR strategy of the former president as part of the election campaign.

According to the expert, if Poroshenko wins the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, he will receive immunity status, and criminal cases will not be dangerous for him for the term of his office.

“Before a certain stratum of the Ukrainian voter, he appears as a martyr, a man who built the state and whom they decided to imprison. We can recall how Tymoshenko went to prison and exploited the image of the great martyr, ”the expert explained.

Earlier, the director of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine said that he would call in for questioning the former president of the country, Petro Poroshenko.
