The Gaza Strip's health ministry said five hospitals in the Gaza Strip would stop operating within hours due to the fuel crisis, which will cause generators to stop, after Beit Hanoun hospital stopped working last week.

The spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, Ashraf Qadra warned of the occurrence of what he described as a disaster if the services of five hospitals in the sector, including victory for children and Rantisi for cancer patients and Abu Yusuf Najjar Hospital.

He called on all humanitarian and relief organizations to work immediately to save the lives of patients in the Gaza Strip.

The provision of services to these hospitals and health centers depends on the working hours of electricity only, ranging from four to six hours a day in light of the shortage of fuel for alternative generators.

Gaza suffers very poor living conditions as a result of the 11-year Israeli blockade. According to the latest statistics, the poverty rate in the Gaza Strip amounted to about 80%, while the unemployment rate among citizens to 50%.

In addition to the Israeli siege, the misery of the health sector in Gaza increases the closure of the Rafah crossing with Egypt, preventing patients from leaving for treatment.
