A ceremony was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and those who attended reaffirmed their commitment to the founding principle of dedicating efforts to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises nationwide.

The Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded in 1922 as a federation of chambers of commerce and industry in various regions. Today, 515 chambers of commerce and industry nationwide are affiliated with 1.23 million member companies.



About 1,100 people attended the 100th anniversary ceremony held in Tokyo, including His Majesty the Emperor, Prime Minister Kishida, and officials from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In this, Mimura, the president of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, "We will make maximum use of the nationwide network in response to numerous hardships such as post-war reconstruction, the oil shock, the collapse of the bubble economy, and the Great East Japan Earthquake, and strive to revitalize the local economy. We will work together to support small and medium-sized enterprises facing the new coronavirus and population decline."



At the end of the ceremony, a declaration commemorating the 100th anniversary was adopted, and the people involved renewed their determination to focus on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises throughout the country, which has been the philosophy since the founding.

The Emperor touched on the activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, such as supporting the management of small and medium-sized enterprises, and said, "In recent years, we have been supporting the recovery of businesses affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, as well as businesses affected by the new coronavirus infection. I hear that they are also making efforts to provide support for the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, etc. I would like to express my deep respect for the long-standing efforts and tireless efforts of those involved in the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and those of other chambers of commerce and industry throughout Japan.”
