The board of directors of the supermarket chain Dia has approved separating the positions of president and global CEO (the group's chief executive), so that Stephan DuCharme leaves his position as CEO of the company and

Martín Tolcachir, until now CEO de Dia Argentina,

will be the new CEO of the group.

Ducharme, executive chairman of Dia in March 2020, will continue as proprietary director and non-executive chairman of the board of directors

As reported by the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) on Tuesday, Tolcachir will assume the group's strategy at a global level and will lead the group's transformation plan in all the countries in which Dia operates.

With this division, "

Dia seeks to accelerate its sustainable

and profitable growth, concentrating on the development of its strategic priorities and maintaining a closer and closer relationship with all its stakeholders," the company underlines in a statement.

The new CEO will work alongside Stephan DuCharme, who "will remain closely linked to Dia" and will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors, in a non-executive capacity.

"We are focused on offering a differentiated value proposition compared to our competitors, a new store concept, reviewing our assortment and accelerating the development of our own brand. But, above all, we are laying the foundations for a new leadership and a solid management team. This roadmap is already a reality and the rise of Martín Tolcachir demonstrates it", said DuCharme.

With a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Buenos Aires and an MBA from the IMD Business School,

in the distribution and mass consumption sector, in companies such as Carrefour or Electrolux.

"I face this new challenge with enormous responsibility and enthusiasm, determined to make the sum of the work of all of us who make up Dia reinforce our focus on the client and the strategy of accelerating the growth of our company. To do this, we will continue to focus in proximity, without forgetting the values that give meaning to Dia, its strong social commitment and our firm commitment to franchisees and local suppliers, as well as digitization and e-commerce as levers to reinforce proximity", he highlighted.
