According to the Japan Department Stores Association, sales at department stores nationwide in July exceeded the same month of the previous year by 9.6% compared to existing stores, marking the fifth consecutive month of positive growth.



Sales of high-priced items such as jewelry and works of art surpassed those before the spread of the new coronavirus infection, and this summer there were no restrictions on movement and the temperature remained high, so Japanese and Western sweets for souvenirs and summer items. Clothing sales were booming.



On the other hand, overall sales are down more than 9% compared to three years ago before the spread of infection, and have not yet returned to their previous levels.
