The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation has announced a new achievement in the development of the Barakah Peaceful Nuclear Energy Plants, which is the completion of the thermal performance test at the fourth and final station of the plants in the Al Dhafra region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The corporation confirmed in a statement that this test represents a major step in the pre-operational phase, during which all lessons learned from the tests conducted at the three stations were applied.

She explained that during the thermal performance test, a comprehensive examination of the plant's components was conducted in terms of thermal expansion and vibration factors.

The test results showed that all systems operate according to the highest standards of quality and safety under normal operating conditions.

The test also included testing the pressure device safety valve, measuring the flow of the reactor coolant system, as well as testing the main turbine system, which confirmed that the main components and systems of the plant operate according to the design, and meet all requirements for normal operation.

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation pointed out that, prior to this test, it had completed the “structural integrity” and “integrated leakage rate” tests at the fourth Barakah plants, and the results of the two tests confirmed the durability of the fourth plant building, in terms of its ability to continue working in normal and unusual conditions. Both normal.

Mohammed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Managing Director and CEO of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, said that the completion of these tests at the fourth Barakah plant confirms the continuous progress in the process of developing the plants, in accordance with local regulatory requirements and the highest international standards.

He stressed that these tests are a major step towards the operational phase of the fourth station, and bring us closer to the commercial operation of all Barakah plants that produce abundant, reliable and environmentally friendly electricity.
