<Anchor> The

government is proposing one after another that the inflation momentum will subside by October after Chuseok in September.

There are several reasons, and the analysis prevails that high prices will continue for the time being, even if October actually peaks as variables are still there.

Reporter Hoon-Kyung Jang points it out.

A large supermarket in Seoul.

It's easy to see people who pick up and put them down, and then hesitate when they see the price tag.

[Hyunae Kim / Mapo-gu, Seoul: I have no choice but to buy at a discount.

I can't eat enough to pay for it.

However, the market is too expensive to buy because the child is exercising and has no choice but to buy it.]

The government is making predictions that these high prices will peak after Chuseok.

A typical example is when Deputy Prime Minister Choo Kyung-ho said, "Will the shopping cart prices stabilize a little in October?"

The upward trend has stopped, with the International Commodity Price Index falling about 10% in a month.

In Korea, the prices of cooking oil and flour have not risen for two more months, and the price of eggs is falling little by little.

There is also a base effect here.

Compared to the same month a year ago, the consumer price inflation rate has risen sharply since October last year, so the rate of increase may decrease now.

However, there are many analyzes that this level cannot be reassured.

This is because the won-dollar exchange rate is maintaining the 1,300 won range, raising import prices, and external variables such as the Ukrainian war and the Chinese corona are still there.

[Lee Chang-yong/Governor of the Bank of Korea (last 13th): Even if (inflation) peaked, I would like

to reiterate that the peak does not mean that it will come down very quickly.]

There are many things that do not fall well, and electricity and gas rates are expected to rise in the fourth quarter, so high prices are expected to continue for a while.
