He pointed out that the program's certificate is obtained according to specific and precise criteria represented in the value of spending and investment in the country, Emiratisation, and the adoption of advanced technology.

He stressed that the inclusion of leading Emirati institutions, such as Etihad Aviation Group, will be reflected in the development of the advantages and level of products and services, and give them more space for growth, innovation and competitiveness, as well as provide sustainable solutions to increase the demand for highly efficient supply chains, and reflect the importance of coordination and cooperation between the ministry and federal and local authorities. And major national companies, pointing out that the procurement of services from the entities implementing the program will become one of the most important means of supporting and empowering the UAE industry in light of the goals adopted by the UAE towards the next 50 years.

He added: “Within the framework of our strategy, (Etihad Airways) launched in 2020, a local program called (Al Watani), through which it cooperated with more than 1,000 local suppliers, while the company’s domestic spending reached more than 35%, on purchases from the UAE market, Today, by signing this agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, our goal is to enhance the union’s domestic spending with national companies, and increase opportunities for local suppliers and owners of small and medium enterprises.”

The accession of “Etihad Airways” comes as part of the distinguished success achieved by the program at the federal level since its launch during the last quarter of last year, after the joining of 45 federal entities and 18 national institutions, as it contributed to the redirection of more than 41 billion dirhams in 2021 from expenses Applicable entities from purchases and services to the national economy, compared to 27 billion two years ago.

Program objectives

The National Value Added Program is considered a mainstay in supporting national trends towards sustainable economic diversification. It also aims to increase the number of approved suppliers from 5,000 to 7,300 companies, and raise purchases of Emirati products and services from 33 billion dirhams when the program was launched in 2020 to 55 billion dirhams by 2025. Note that the year 2021 witnessed an increase in those purchases, reaching 41.2 billion dirhams.

The “program” contributed to redirecting 41 billion dirhams in 2021 to the national economy.
