“Nuclear Control”: Operation for 60 years

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation confirmed that the operating license issued by it on June 17 authorizes the Nawah Energy Company to operate the third unit of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant for a period of 60 years.

The authority stated in a statement, on the occasion of the start of loading nuclear fuel into the third unit of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, that the period of preparations for commercial operation includes the loading of nuclear fuel packages by Nawah Energy Company in the third unit, where the authority’s inspectors at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant are supervising the process. To ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

The authority confirmed that it intends to carry out inspections around the clock through its inspectors residing at the "Barakah" station, as well as sending other inspectors to ensure the completion of fuel loading operations and tests in accordance with the requirements.

After completing the stage of preparations for operation, the authority will assume the supervisory role during the commercial operation of the third unit, to ensure the safety of the reactor's operation.
