Hotel establishments attract 13 million guests by the end of the third quarter of 2021

The Emirates Tourism Council held its fourth meeting for the year 2021, headed by the Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises, Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, and the membership of the heads and general managers of local tourism authorities in the country.

The Council reviewed tourism and hotel data for the third quarter of 2021, which showed that hotel establishments from the beginning of this year until the end of the third quarter of it attracted about 13 million guests, who spent more than 52 million hotel nights, a growth of 24% compared to the same period in 2020.

According to these data, the total revenues of hotel establishments amounted to about 16 billion dirhams, a growth of 40% compared to the same period last year.

Hotel establishments also continued to record an average occupancy rate of 62%, ahead of the top 10 tourist destinations in the world.

The Council discussed mechanisms for coordinating cooperation between member agencies at the federal and local levels to support tourism promotion efforts in the country, with a focus on domestic tourism campaigns in conjunction with the entry of the winter season, which is considered an active tourist attraction period in the country.

The Council also reviewed, in coordination with the Media Office of the UAE Government, plans to launch the second round of the "The Most Beautiful Winter in the World" campaign announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which is scheduled to be launched in December 2021. The council was briefed on the proposals and new ideas for the second round of the campaign, which aims to highlight the Emirati tourism identity and the various tourism events in the country, and to enhance the country's position as a home for skilled people and pioneering projects and to attract investments in the tourism field.

The council also reviewed a plan of action for cooperation and coordination between the concerned authorities, to develop programs for the development of foreign tourism, and to increase the attraction of visitors from the exporting markets for tourists, as well as a review of initiatives and plans aimed at opening new markets that enhance the country's position on the global tourism map.
