The prolongation of a crisis that was expected for weeks in March 2020 and turns one year this month is putting social protection systems to the test.

The number of registered unemployed workers who have already exhausted their right to unemployment benefits or subsidies

has grown by more than 270,000 over the last year and is close to 1.3 million

.

In relation to the total number of unemployed, coverage reached 64% of the unemployed in January, well above the scarce 50% that was experienced in January.
