Eastar Jet, which is pursuing resale after the merger and acquisition (M&A) with Jeju Air, finally decided to lay off 640 people.

Mass unemployment has become a reality in the aviation industry, which was hit directly by the Corona 19 incident.

Eastar Jet will notify individual employees who are subject to layoffs in the afternoon of today (7th).

The layoff time is October 14th, and it is delayed by about a week from the original schedule (6th) in consideration of procedures such as sending the contents certificate registered.

The maintenance personnel were excluded from this layoff.

The management of Eastar Jet explained, "The maintenance personnel are calculated based on the current number of aircraft and have not been laid off," and said, "Considering the increase in aircraft and re-operation of international flights in the future, the current number of personnel is insufficient."

Accordingly, a total of 576 employees remain at Eastar Jet.

This is the number of people taking into account the number of personnel required for the operation of 6 aircraft and the required personnel required for issuance of the Air Operation Certificate (AOC).

Earlier, at the end of last month, a total of 98 people had received an application for retirement.

An official of Eastar Jet said, "If the company is currently incapable of paying wages, it is necessary to reduce manpower so that employees can receive unemployment benefits or overdue wages (a system in which the state pays a certain portion of the unpaid wages on behalf of the employer) "There is."

Eastar Jet is planning to conduct an M&A in October by selecting a preferred negotiating company at the end of this month.

Currently, about 10 companies, including 4 companies and private equity funds, have indicated their intention to take over.

Eastar Jet recently sent an investment notice (teaser letter) to the candidates who indicated their intention to invest, and will send a letter of intent to invest, including the results of accounting due diligence, upon the reply of the prospective investor.
