The Commercial Supervision and Consumer Protection Sector in the Dubai Economy received 784 complaints related to price hikes within two weeks, since the launch of the awareness campaign on the importance of submitting consumer complaints, and its announcement of the new online channel for price hikes via the website: (price.ded.ae).

The director of the Consumer Protection Department, Ahmed Al Zaabi, said that “Dubai Economic is keen on providing various channels that suit all segments of consumers of all ages, to provide protection for them from any commercial transgressions.” He added: “We received 71% of complaints about price increases through the site: (price .de.com), while 29% of them were through the “Dubai Consumer” app. ”

Al-Zaabi stressed that "the Consumer Protection Department team is responsible for verifying the accuracy of complaints related to price increases, through looking at available evidence that supports them, and comparing current bills with previous ones," noting that "the team may resort to field and electronic verification from the merchant's price list, and other Available methods.

He added that «in the event that the price increase is already proven, the dealer is directed to return to the original prices, and it can be violated if he does not cooperate with the team».

Al-Zaabi praised the cooperation of consumers, and informed them of wrong practices, to help protect them in these exceptional circumstances, which require the concerted efforts of all parties, to ensure the stability of markets.

It is noteworthy that consumers can submit complaints related to raising prices through the "Dubai Consumer" application, which is available in the stores of companies "Apple", "Google" and "Huawei", or the website: (price.ded.ae), or by calling the phone at : (600545555).
