After the game, Parana Athletic coach Scolari announced his retirement, ending a 40-year coaching career.

  Scolari said: "I want to end my career as a football coach with a victory and today was one of the best games played by the team during my time at Atlético Parana."

  During his long career, he has coached 18 clubs and 7 national teams.

He has led the team to two Bundesliga titles, two Copa Libertadores, four Copa Brasil titles, and led the Brazilian national team to the World Cup in 2002.

  In 2015, Scolari became the coach of Guangzhou Evergrande. In the more than two years of coaching the Guangzhou team, Scolari led the team to win three Chinese Super League championships, an AFC championship and a FA Cup championship.

  It is reported that Scolari will also serve as the technical director of the club after his retirement, and his assistant Paulo Tula will serve as the club's head coach.
