The MotoGP world title will therefore be decided during the last round of the season.

The Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) won the Malaysian Grand Prix this Sunday and increased his lead over his last rival for the title, Fabio Quartararo, but the 3rd place of the French rider nevertheless keeps the suspense until November 6 and the last GP in Valencia.

In the general classification, Bagnaia now has a 23-point lead over Quartararo (Yamaha), with a victory earning 25 points.

He will therefore only need to score two points in Valencia to validate his title, whatever the result of Quartararo.

On the Sepang track, the Italian also signs his 7th victory of the season - the fifth in the last nine races.

“I had the best start of my life.

We did a great job at the championship level, ”reacted Bagnaia on arrival, starting from 9th place on the grid.

The Turinese really got off to an excellent start, to the point of positioning himself at the exit of the first corner in second position, behind the Spanish poleman Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac).

“Pecco” then took advantage of Martin's fall to take the lead in the race, which he then only ceded for a few laps to his compatriot Enea Bastianini.

“We are still here in Valencia”

Bagnaia held on to the lead until the checkered flag despite pressure from Bastianini, who did not take any risks to snatch victory from him.

For his part, Quartararo first moved up from 12th to 6th position at the start of the race, thanks to an excellent start too, then he gained another three places to finish on the podium and spare a little suspense in the championship.

“I gave the maximum today, I couldn't do better (…) Even if the chances (of a title) are slim, we are still there in Valencia”, positive the Frenchman, who after weeks of difficulty scored his first podium since the Austrian GP in August.
