In connection with Lars-Christer Olsson leaving as chairman in 2021, 61-year-old Mats Enquist was clear about his future at the elite clubs' interest organization Swedish Elite Soccer (Sef).

Two more years, he promised.

And it will be two years.

At the annual meeting in March, he leaves the role of general secretary.

"I have given everything I could in this role, but every journey has an end and now it is time for someone else to take over," he says in a press release.

Sef writes that during the transition period, Enquist will "remain in a role as a senior advisor to support the board and the new general secretary" and that the work is now beginning to recruit the next general secretary.

Mats Enquist began his work at Swedish elite football in 2012.
