Three years ago, the statue of Zlatan Ibrahimovic was inaugurated with pomp and circumstance, only to be vandalized a short while later in connection with the fact that Ibrahimovic had bought shares in Hammarby to the extent that the city of Malmö chose to take it down for renovation and to get end the vandalism.
For over two and a half years, the vandalized statue has been stored in a secret location.
Now the city of Malmö has set aside money for the renovation and aims to be able to exhibit the statue again soon.
- I think we should be done with the renovation before the turn of the year.
We will also prepare the statue for an alarm installation, says Malmö city's business director Micael Nord to Sydsvenskan.
