Three years ago, the statue of Zlatan Ibrahimovic was inaugurated with pomp and circumstance, only to have it vandalized a short while later, in connection with the fact that Ibrahimovic had bought shares in Hammarby, to the extent that the city of Malmö chose to take it down for renovation and to put an end to the vandalism.

For over two and a half years, the vandalized statue has been stored in a secret location.

Now the city of Malmö has set aside money for the renovation and aims to be able to exhibit the statue again soon.

- I think we should be done with the renovation before the turn of the year.

We will also prepare the statue for an alarm installation, says Malmö city's business director Micael Nord to Sydsvenskan.

Whether the statue will be put up in the same place in Malmö again is unclear, but the artist Peter Linde has his opinion clear:

- I think it should be sent to Milan, but the city of Malmö apparently doesn't think so.

I understand that they don't even want the statue to be sent to Stockholm for repairs, because they are afraid that it will remain in Stockholm then.
