The English football record champion won 2-0 (2-0) against Moldova's serial champion Sheriff Tiraspol, the Portuguese converted a penalty kick.

In Tiraspol, team manager Erik ten Hag's side recovered easily from the 1-0 defeat in Group E at the hands of Real Sociedad San Sebastian.
