Olympique de Marseille suffered a defeat in London on Wednesday, beaten 2-0 by the Hotspur of Tottenham.

The Marseilles held until the second half, when the Brazilian Richarlison opened the scoring.

Meanwhile, in the stands, the outbursts of supporters raised the tension.

OM fought for their first match in the Champions League.

But this Wednesday, the blue and white club lost 2-0 against Hotspur.

The kick-off of the second half of the match between Marseille and Tottenham had only been given for two minutes when the Londoners scored the first goal.

OM were confident after a very promising first act - perhaps too much.

The team takes a red card and will hold out until the last quarter of an hour, before cracking on two headers from the Brazilian Richarlison.

A frustrating and infuriating outcome, no doubt, but also a good lesson for defender Eric Bailly.

"Too bad for this red card in the second half...", said the defender.

"Afterwards, we were really in pain and I think we fell in the end against this Tottenham team. Already at eleven, it's not easy, so at ten... it was really complicated."

In the stands, tensions at the end of the match

Marseille are defeated but Marseille are worthy of the Champions League... on the pitch, at least.

Because in the stands, the end of the match was marked by new and appalling incidents with an LGBT banner torn off, throwing of projectiles and a smoke bomb launched from the Marseille parking lot towards the English supporters.

OM risk big a few days before the reception of Frankfurt.

An appointment already dreaded by the authorities.
