Masked thieves broke into the house of Gabonese Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with the aim of robbery, at dawn today, Monday, and attacked the player and his family.

The incident took place at Oba's home in the municipality of Castelldefels, when the player and his relatives were at home.

According to the Spanish newspaper, El Pais, the thieves entered the house through the garden, aimed guns at the Gabonese star, beat him and threatened his wife.

The thieves forced the family to open the safe, before they fled by car to an unknown destination.

Aubameyang's wife, Alicia Behig, says she has informed the Catalan police, who are still trying to identify and locate the attackers.

Football players' homes robbed

And Aubameyang is not the only player to have been robbed recently.

The same thing happened earlier this season to Samo Castelego, whose home was burgled while he and his family were at Mestalla on his first Valencia debut.

Thieves used to enter soccer players' homes when they were out or playing matches.

For this reason, the Valencia team has advised its players to enhance their security and take more precautions when they participate in matches.
