The Dubai Chess and Culture Club at its headquarters in the Al Mamzar area of ​​Dubai is witnessing this evening the launch of the 22nd edition of the Dubai International Open Chess Championship, after a two-year hiatus from the last edition due to the outbreak of the "Covid-19" pandemic.

The club has completed its preparations to organize the tournament, which will continue until the fourth of next September.

The international event will be attended by the elite and promising players from different continents of the world, who have won during their career many international, continental and regional titles, as it includes 35 international professors, 32 international professors, 31 professors from an international association and five female professors.

In addition to three women who hold the title of Senior International Professor and their peers hold the title of International Professor and a Candidate Professor.

Among the most prominent participants are the Russian Alexander Pridke, and the Indian Arjun Irikisi, who was crowned a few days ago in the Masters Championship at the Abu Dhabi Chess Festival.

Also participating are two of the previous winners of the championship, veteran Armenian Vladimir Akopian and Indian Zbijit Gupta.

This morning, the players' meeting and the draw will be held, in the presence of a number of players, and the international organizing meeting will be chaired by Saeed Youssef Shoukry, tournament director, and Muhammad Al-Husseini, general coordinator of the tournament, in the presence of international referee Mahdi Abdel Rahim, head of referees.

Among the most prominent names participating in the tournament are the Russian Pridke and the Indian Erikisi.
