Sergej Bubka was one of the spectators at the event in Lausanne which Duplantis won in superior style in 6.10.
At the awards ceremony afterwards, Duplantis, Bubka and Renaud Lavillenie, three pole vaulters who broke world records, gathered for pictures.
22-year-old Duplantis thought the meeting felt special.
- It is always very special when I meet him.
He has done so much for pole vaulting, he says.
