Norway went out already in the group stage of the European Football Championship after going on the biggest loss ever, 0-8 against England.

Federation captain Martin Sjögren received harsh criticism during the championship, and now it is clear that he will not continue to be trusted.

Assistant national team captain Anders Jacobson may also leave.

- We go our separate ways as friends.

Even though we are confident that this is the right decision for the Norwegian team, it is with sadness and great respect that we end the collaboration, says the association's chairman Lise Klaveness.

Sjögren had a contract for next year's WC.

He led the team for three championships and five and a half years.

In the European Championships 2017, a goalless Norway left the group and in the World Cup 2019, the team reached the quarterfinals.
