According to data provided by
Anesdor
, the employers' association for the two-wheeler sector,
June ended with a 2.5% growth in total sales
(22,385 vehicles sold), with a new
push for scooters (11,530 units, 16.4 % more)
and electric motorcycles
in another slight growth
(3.6% and 1,632 units), but with a
new contraction of conventional motorcycles
(-8.3% and 7,997 units)
and mopeds
(-20.1%, 1,728 units).
Thus, in the final calculation of the
semester, there have been 105,025 registered vehicles
, which represents a
year-on-year growth of 9.8%
.
This data allows the sector to face the final objective set by Anesdor of achieving those 211,200 units by the end of this 2022 -which would mean closing the year with an increase of 9.2%-, announced in January.
But not all segments have grown...
Honda PCX 125, sales leader in the first half.
The scooters continue to pull hard...
The
set of motorcycles has ended up growing by 11.5% to 91,453 units sold
, a growth supported by those of an urban nature, scooters
, which continue to pull strongly: 50,639 vehicles, which is 25.6% more than last year
.
For their part,
conventional motorcycles
maintain this small negative trend,
losing 2%
and remaining at 40,814 units.
Sym's Symphony 125, third in the absolute ranking after leading sales for two months.
HONDA MAINTAINS THE FIRST PLACE
By brand, Honda continues to rule the sector with an iron hand
, with total sales of
20,971 units, which also represents a growth of almost 22%
compared to the first half of 2021. Behind it,
Yamaha follows in its wake in the distance
, as well as almost half,
with 11,065 motorcycles registered
in a slight decline of 8.9% in these first six months compared to last year's data.
The third in the semi-annual podium drawer is Piaggio.
The Italian brand sold 6.7% more
in the semester to 6,117 units.
The 'top 5' of brands is completed by Sym (fourth)
with a spectacular
six-monthly growth of 57% in sales
thanks to the 6,002 units that left its dealerships
and BMW with 5,772 motorcycles sold
(15.9% less).
As for the
models preferred
by users,
Honda places its PCX 125, with 3,883 units.
sold, and the SH 125i, with 3,461 units, as the best sellers of the semester.
The podium is completed
by Sym's Symphony 125, which after leading May and June, rises to third place with 3,395 units sold, which represents a growth of 94.8%
compared to last year.
The
X-Max 125
(2,421 units) and
Agility City 125, from Yamaha and Kymco,
respectively,
complete the ranking of the 5 'bestsellers'
of the midway point of the market in 2021.
Mopeds have
experienced
their particular
adjustment via the reduction of the rental channel
, since not as many
motosharing
fleets have been delivered as in 2021. Thus,
sales have contracted 8.9%
to 7,875 units.
The Peugeot Motocycles Tweet 50 leads the mopeds, this is its GT version.
SEGMENT OF THE MOPEDS
Peugeot Motocycles is the one who sets the pace up to 50 cc.
Despite falling 15.2% compared to the first half of 2021, the 1,079 mopeds registered by the French brand owned by Mahindra allow it to maintain the lead with
Piaggio as the second preferred brand
(868 units sold, 25% less) and
Askoll and its electric commitment as third on the brand podium
with 848 units sold thanks to its ES2 model.
This statistical 'distortion' of the aforementioned
Askoll ES2
(and its success above all in
motosharing
and fleets) lifts it to
second place by models
, with 761 units sold, and with the
Rieju MRT 50 (753 units) completing a podium that has in the highest Tweet 50 of Peugeot Motocycles
, with 786 units registered in the semester.
The rest of the vehicles in the sector
are also experiencing good times
:
tricycles
grow by
26.5%
to 1,836 units;
and
light and heavy quadricycles
,
12%
(1,731 units)
and 7.7%
(2,130 units), respectively.
One out of every two tricycles sold in Spain is a Yamaha Tricity.
THE TRICYCLES, MODELS ON THE RISE
Yamaha with its Tricity 300
of which it has sold
more than half of all the tricycles on the market
: 974 Tricity 300 in these first six months of the 1,836 total tricycles registered (32.2% more, by the way).
Piaggio is second, dividing the weight of its sales between the Mp3 400 LT and the Mp3 300 LT
, which add up to 716 units.
Peugeot Motocycles closes the classification of 'top 3' brands in the segment with its 176
registered Metropolises, far from the head and weighed down perhaps by the litigation it has with Piaggio for some patents at European level.
... And the electric too
Electric motorcycles
"are reaching market shares significantly higher than those of larger vehicles", as Anesdor has reported
in its six-monthly summary, especially in urban areas.
In the accumulated of 2022
"electric motorcycles account for 5.7% of the total market, while mopeds already reach 36.3% of the total"
, the employer has remarked.
And it is that in this first half of the year the electric motorcycle has grown by 42%, reaching a share of 5.7% in the case of motorcycles and 36.3% in the case of mopeds.
The electricity market follows its own path, so to speak, in parallel.
By fuel,
motorcycles as a whole (not counting mopeds) continue to be gasoline territory, although their growth is increasingly slower.
Thus, if in the semester it accounted for just over
94% of registrations, these only grew by 9.2%
compared to 2021, while
those powered by electricity already account for almost 6% of the total, but with a growth 73.1% inter-semester.
Askoll Es2, the best-selling electric two-wheeler.
For their part,
electric mopeds are increasingly cutting back on those powered by fossil fuel.
From January to June,
63.7% of the registrations of the youngest in the sector were gasoline, but with a decline compared to the same period last year of almost 16%, while electric vehicles, which were 36.3 % of sales, grew by 6.8%.
The gap narrows.
Surprise in the best-selling electric model
Such is the thrust of electric mopeds that
the best-selling model of all two-wheelers with batteries is precisely one of them, the Askoll ES2 with 761 registered units, compared to 703 units of the S01 of Silence and 454 Mó of Seat
And motorcycles with gears?
Well, with regard to
conventional motorcycles
, those with gears, maintain that small negative trend,
losing 2%
and remaining at 40,814 units... And there are some surprises.
Z900, Kawasaki's hypnotic 'Z' power, the best-selling gear model.
Kawasaki continues to hold the baton in its hand with the Z900 (in 16th place in the absolute ranking
with 1,232 units sold), and
Yamaha is in second place with the MT-07 (18th in the overall
ranking with 1,187 units sold). registered) with
BMW closing the list with its R 1250 GS
with 1,011 units sold.
BMW R1250GS.
HIGH DISPLACEMENT MOTORCYCLES
The anomaly in this classification is repeated once again.
Although the Z900 has those total sales, it does not differentiate between variants (it has one for the A2 and a complete one) while the flagship model of BMW has the
Adventure
version that is counted separately and 692 units were registered.
This model of the German,
despite falling in sales around 20% between the two, counting both versions together would add sales of 1,703 units and leading the sub-segment of conventional motorcycles with gears
... And entering the 'top 10 ' Absolute sales since, without this circumstance, the Peugeot Motocycles Tweet 125i closes it in 10th place with 1,691 units sold in the first half.
BMW R1250GS Adventure.
