More than 21,000 spectators were present on the classic Bramall Lane in Sheffield and got to see Sweden play 1-1 against the Netherlands in the European Championship premiere.

The visiting Swedish supporters were both loud and numerous.

- They are the big plus this day.

The Swedish fans were fantastic and we heard them the whole match.

It gave us energy.

I am so grateful that everyone came, says Fridolina Rolfö.

Before the kick-off, more than 2,000 blue-yellows marched along the streets of Sheffield and sang the national anthem.

- It feels super wonderful.

We will need the support during the tournament, that means a lot.

Caroline Seger agrees with Rolfö's tribute.

- Incredible.

Magical that they are here and offend us.

Hope we can deliver even better football, says the team captain.

On Wednesday, Switzerland is waiting in the same arena.
