It'll be over in two months.

Then Christian Streich will give up his job as coach of SC Freiburg after 29 years at the club.

Former players and companions pay tribute to the 58-year-old across club boundaries.

An overview.

Nils Petersen (former SC Freiburg striker):

“With Christian Streich a person is leaving who turned a small club into a big one.

Who took SC Freiburg to a new level.

He's practically the SC.

So it's a turning point for the club.

A big gap, huge shoes to fill, which the club will now carefully fill.”

Fritz Keller (former president of SC Freiburg):

»With Christian Streich we had someone who had the DNA of the club in him.

Now is the moment for deep gratitude.

He is a human catcher.

He doesn't take himself too seriously; he thinks in terms of football generations.

That is SC Freiburg’s model of success.”

Oliver Baumann (TSG Hoffenheim goalkeeper):

“He helped raise me because I’ve known him since I was a teenager.

I am extremely grateful to him for everything.

How he wants to play football, what his attitude towards football is - that's how he made me grow up.

You can’t put it into words because it’s so much more than that.”

Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen coach):

»29 years at a club is an incredibly long time.

I am grateful to have met Christian Streich in a few games; each of these encounters was characterized by enormous mutual appreciation."

Ralph Hasenhüttl (coach VfL Wolfsburg):

»What Christian has achieved in recent years simply cannot be valued highly enough.

But this job doesn't leave him unscathed either - you can see that in the look on his face.

And what I would like to rate even higher than his quality as a coach is his quality as a person.

Because he always dared to say things that, in our position, it is often very, very critical to talk about."

“Really, Christian Streich?”

Cem Özdemir (Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, at X):

»Christian Streich, a legend in German football!

A man who stands for continuity and down-to-earthness and always finds the right words.

Thank you Christian!”
