Egypt allows 60,000 fans to attend crucial Senegal match

The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports announced obtaining the required approvals for 60,000 fans to attend the national team's crucial match against Senegal in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month.

Egypt will host the first leg of the decisive round in Cairo Stadium against African champions Senegal on March 25, then play the return match four days later, and the winner qualifies directly to the 2022 World Cup finals to be held in Qatar in November and December.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports said on its website on Tuesday, "It is scheduled to hold several meetings in the coming days to announce the date of issuing tickets and their prices to fans through the Egyptian Football Association, where 60,000 fans have been approved to attend the match."

The ministry's announcement of the fans' attendance came after a meeting of Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, with security representatives and the authorities responsible for the match.

Egypt performed well in the African Nations Cup and reached the final before losing on penalties to Senegal on February 6.

Most of the local matches in Egypt have been held for years without fans or with a limited number.
