Chelsea FC easily reached the fourth round in the FA Cup.

The team of the German soccer coach Thomas Tuchel, who had recently won only one of five games in the Premier League, clearly prevailed on Saturday at London's Stamford Bridge with 5: 1 (4: 0) against the fifth division club Chesterfield.

After just under 20 minutes, the game was practically decided.

The German national player Timo Werner, who played his first game in the league cup on Wednesday after a compulsory break of several weeks due to a corona infection, opened the peat festival after six minutes. Callum Hudson-Odoi (18th), Romelu Lukaku (20th) and Andreas Christensen (39th) increased before the break for the Londoners, in which the courted defender Antonio Rüdiger took a break. Hakim Ziyech (55th) also scored a penalty for the Champions League winner.

The mood in London was great, even with the over 5000 Chesterfield fans, despite the cup being knocked out. Akwasi Asante (80.) caused loud cheers in the guest gallery with his consolation goal for the outsider and made coach James Rowe smile. Chesterfield has different priorities than the Cup. As runner-up in the National League with two games in hand, the team is playing for promotion to fourth-rate League Two this year.

For the newly rich club Newcastle United, however, things are still not going well in terms of sport.

The table penultimate in the Premier League also embarrassed himself to the best of his ability in the FA Cup on Saturday.

With newcomer Kieran Trippier in the starting line-up, the Magpies lost 1-0 (0-0) against third division club Cambridge United in their own stadium.

Joe Ironside scored in the 56th minute for the blatant underdog, who moved into the fourth round of the cup.

Newcastle United was taken over by a consortium with Saudi participation in early October.

Shortly thereafter, the club separated from his coach Steve Bruce and signed Eddie Howe.

But under the leadership of the 43-year-old, the sporting situation has hardly improved so far.

The traditional club has only won one of 19 league games this season.
