"60ft Sailing" opens sea races in 2022

The beaches of Dubai will witness a great heritage marine sports event tomorrow, Sunday noon, with the launch of the first rounds of the Dubai Local Sailing Ship Championship 60 feet, which is organized by the Dubai International Marine Sports Club as part of the activities of the marine sports season 2021-2022.



The 60-foot local sailing races are entering their thirtieth year with the start of the New Year 2022, where the beaches of Dubai and the waters of the Arabian Gulf witnessed its first launch in 1993 when the club organized the first race for this category in implementation of the vision of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum - may God bless him Thrah - In the third race of the Al Qaffal event.



The Dubai International Marine Sports Club completed all the preparations for the big event, starting at 1:00 pm, in coordination with the success partners from government departments and national institutions, where it was decided that the launch would be from the depth of the Gulf waters towards the finish line at the beaches of Jumeirah.



It is expected that the race will start from the starting point (high) of the World Islands, according to the vision of the organizing committee, which will stand today on the latest developments and the state of the sea at the site, so that the launch buoys will be placed, waiting for the starting signal and raising the green flag to mark the start of the race.



Mohammed Abdullah Hareb, Executive Director of the Dubai International Marine Club, said that the Dubai International Marine Club is always keen to make all events a success, so the choice of the starting place and the date came based on the data on the conditions and conditions of the sea and studying all matters related to this in light of the fluctuations of weather in the past days. He stressed that the sea condition on Sunday will be appropriate, according to meteorological reports and the marine bulletin, which confirmed that the winds today in the Arabian Gulf will be northwesterly - southeasterly, with speeds varying at different times from 07-14 knots, while waves will be 2-3 feet high.




Mohammed Abdullah Hareb praised the great cooperation that the Dubai International Marine Club finds from owners, sailors and sailors in the success of all heritage marine events, which appeared on more than one occasion, which reflects the extent of interest and striving to preserve the heritage.  



The Executive Director of the Dubai International Marine Sports Club also extended his thanks and appreciation to the General Command of Dubai Police, the Vital Facilities and Coasts Protection Authority (the Fourth Squadron Command), the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Dubai, Marassi (P&O) and Dubai Harbor - D Marine Dubai for the great and continuous cooperation and facilitation of tasks To ensure the success of all activities.
