Peng Shuai had disappeared for almost three weeks in November after she in a post on the social media platform Weibo, which was quickly removed, came with the accusations which she now takes back.

The tennis player now says, in an interview with the news site Lianhe Zaobab in Singapore, that the post was a "private matter".

She also says:

- First and foremost, I want to point out one thing that is extremely important.

I have never said or written that anyone would have subjected me to sexual harassment, I really have to press that.

The video meeting with the IOC

On November 21, after nearly three weeks of disappearance, pictures of Peng Shuai were circulated.

In a video conference with the International Olympic Committee, she also said that she was feeling well and was safe.

At the same time, Chinese expert Jennifer Hsu called for caution in interpreting the signs of life from Peng Shuai.

- We probably have to look at these with a critical mind.

For many who are censored by the state are often forced to deliver involuntary statements, she told TT.

Among other things, the international tennis tour WTA continued to worry about the Chinese doubles specialist, and a couple of weeks ago, the WTA canceled all planned competitions in the country.

"People have many misunderstandings"

Peng Shuai's statement on Sunday is the first in front of a camera that has been made public.

She spoke in connection with a cross-country skiing competition in Shanghai where she was present.

Among other things, the 35-year-old says that "people have many misunderstandings" about her post on Weibo.

She also said that she has lived in Beijing without supervision.
