Louise Hansson has mainly been known as a butterfly swimmer, but on Friday she took gold in the 100 meter backstroke and thus secured Sweden's first World Cup medal in backstroke of all time.

In today's attempt at half the distance, she was second fastest with a time of 26.27 seconds.

By far the fastest was the Canadian who won Hansson's heat, Margaret MacNeil.

She swam at 25.98.

21-year-old Hanna Rosvall also made it to the semifinals.

She finished ninth in the trials and set a new personal record with a time of 26.52.

The semifinals will be swum during the afternoon final and the final tomorrow, Monday.

- It's going to be great fun.

I had a good first fifty split in the hundred so it will be fun to see what I can do in fifty, says Hansson.
