(Focus Interview): Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics is getting closer and preparations for the event are ready, and the preparations for Chinese ice and snow athletes have also entered the final sprint stage.

While the national team athletes are working hard and training with all their strength, there is also a group of people busy. They are the team that provides guarantee services for the Winter Olympics and the national team.

The Winter Olympics is just around the corner. What are these behind-the-scenes teams up to? How do they ensure the safe and orderly training of the national team during the epidemic and help prepare for the Beijing Winter Olympics?

Not long ago, the reporter came to the National Winter Sports Training Center in Beijing Shougang Park, one of the training bases for the national team's ice event.

As a training venue for ice sports, ice making is undoubtedly the most important link in the guarantee of training venues.

This training center has four training venues for figure skating, short track speed skating, curling, and ice hockey. Near the Winter Olympics, the training of the national team becomes tighter. The ice making team gets busier.

Liu Yongliang said: "The skates they wear have ice knives on them, especially when jumping or making big movements. The ice surface is scratched. The ice knives are stuck on the ice to form pits. Basically, they train for 2 hours. Around, the ice surface will no longer be usable."

The national team has a fixed training time every day. In order to cooperate with the training of the national team, the ice makers can only go to the court to repair the ice between the players' training.

Liu Yongliang said: “Give us 30 to 40 minutes to repair the ice between each ice rink, and scrape all the ice surface with an ice-sprinkler. While scraping, we need to sprinkle water, which is between 50 degrees and 60 degrees. If you want to melt the ice ballast and freeze it after melting, it is equivalent to doing the entire ice surface again. It takes about five to six ice repairs every day."

It is not an easy task to be responsible for the ice-making support of several national teams at the same time.

In addition to daily ice repairs, Liu Yongliang will also coordinate a 12-person ice-making team and adjust personnel in accordance with the training and competition schedules of several national teams.

At the beginning of November, a team returned to the training base from a foreign competition. It was necessary to arrange the ice maker and the team to isolate together for closed training.

At the beginning of December, I was notified that a new piece of ice would be made for another team returning to the training base.

Liu Yongliang said that to make a piece of ice, it takes at least a week or so. From the beginning of making the bottom ice to the final putting it into use, there are a total of seven or eight processes, and every link is not sloppy.

Liu Yongliang said: "After making the bottom ice and then spraying paint, like a hockey puck (field), you need to draw a line and seal the ice and paste the logo. After the logo is pasted, the middle layer of ice is thickened. After reaching the required thickness Get on the ice cart, scrape the uneven areas, and use hot water to moisten the ice."

Even if Liu Yongliang is right now, he didn't know anything about ice making four years ago.

Most of the 12-person ice-making team were ordinary workers in various positions during the production period of Shougang. From ordinary workers to professional ice-making teams, their transformation is also a microcosm of Shougang's transformation from a heavy industrial base over the years.

Shougang, which was born in 1919, has now gone through a century.

In the 21st century, in order to adapt to the new requirements of the structural adjustment of my country's iron and steel industry, starting from 2003, Shougang has entered a new stage of relocation and adjustment and implementation of industrial structure optimization and upgrading.

After the suspension of production, the old factory area bid farewell to the hustle and bustle of the past. The scene of steel splashing and molten steel rushing remains in the memory.

Guo Xiaomin, deputy general manager of Shougang Park Sports Center Operation Management Co., Ltd. said: “What should we do if we leave 8.63 square kilometers of land after the transfer of steel production? Faced with an important proposition for corporate transformation. In 2015, Beijing successfully bid for the Winter Olympics. For the Games, Beijing decided to place the Office of the Winter Olympics Organizing Committee in Shougang. Since then, Shougang has begun to truly transform."

The West Ten Silo, which used to store iron-making raw materials, was transformed into the office building of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, with cafes, bars, restaurants, apartments, hotels and other supporting facilities in the surrounding area.

The old clean coal workshop was transformed into a modern ice rink, used for national ice hockey, figure skating, short track speed skating, and curling teams to prepare for the Winter Olympics.

Many Shougang employees have also transformed into winter Olympic guarantee service personnel.

At the National Winter Sports Training Center in Shougang Park, more than 40 of the more than 80 people in charge of the venue security team are former Shougang employees.

Liu Yongliang said: “There are people who have done steel rolling, some have done transportation, and some have done repairs, etc.. These people gather together and now serve the national team and serve the Winter Olympics. We feel particularly honored. , Very proud."

Under the current epidemic prevention and control situation, the guarantee work of the national team's ice training venues is far more than just ice production, but more of the overall arrangement of peripheral security, cleaning, equipment operation and maintenance.

If a team comes back from abroad, it is necessary to coordinate and arrange relevant personnel to be isolated from the team and provide guarantee services.

Closed-loop management should be formed in enclosed areas, and for non-enclosed areas outside the isolated areas, epidemic prevention and elimination must be done.

Liu Shuqiu, the cleaning supervisor of the National Winter Sports Training Center of Shougang Park, said: “We usually wipe once a day. Due to the need of epidemic prevention, the control is relatively strict, usually four times a day.”

At the National Winter Sports Training Center of Shougang Park, it is not only the guarantee work of ice making, security, cleaning, equipment, weak current and other training venues, but also the protection of the athletes' life is the top priority in the work. What do the players usually eat?

What are the requirements?

With permission, the reporter walked into the athlete's restaurant.

On the surface, the athlete dining room at the Shougang Park Training Base is no different from an ordinary unit dining room. Only a careful understanding will reveal some of the mysteries.

The reporter saw that the dinner included roasted octopus, spicy duck leg, beef stew with tomatoes, hand-caught lamb, and grilled chicken steak. The staple food was baked potatoes, quinoa rice, cranberry biscuits, and porridge.

Although these meals seem to be ordinary home-cooked dishes, they also have special requirements.

The diet of athletes must conform to the principle of "frugally hosting the Winter Olympics", and the food must be safe and nutritious to ensure athletes' high-intensity training needs.

Wang Jinge, the head of the athlete apartment of the National Winter Sports Training Center of Shougang Park, said: “These ingredients are purchased from the suppliers bid by the center. The supply of meat must sign an anti-doping agreement. These items must be tested before they leave the factory. After the test, we will give it to us, and we will have to test again after receiving it, and we can eat it if there is no problem."

Putting an end to the problem of food-derived doping has always been one of the problems in the sports world. This not only requires the logistics department to strictly supervise the source of the ingredients, but also to ensure that all dishes can be traced at any time and traceable. Before each meal, athletes The restaurant staff will also sample and save each dish.

In addition to ensuring that the athlete's diet is safe and delicious, it must also be scientifically matched with nutrition, which is also a guarantee for athletes to achieve excellent results.

Athletes’ recipes are matched by a dedicated dietitian according to the athlete’s exercise volume and nutritional needs. At the same time, the restaurant has also purchased a set of smart dining tables to help athletes better grasp the accurate data of their diet.

Through scientific and technological means, the athletes’ daily intake of nutrition and energy is recorded and analyzed, and the nutritionist then makes a one-to-one diet plan for each athlete.

Wei Bin, a nutritionist at the restaurant of the National Sports Medical Center in the Shougang Base of the General Administration of Sports, said: “The entire data backstage is presented in reports. Diet, or a week’s diet for a certain stage of nutritional analysis."

In order to ensure that Chinese ice and snow athletes can easily prepare for the battle, since the epidemic last year, many service support personnel have been on duty to provide all-round support services for athletes.

At present, in addition to the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee headquarters and the ice teams of several national teams, there are also four main operations center (MOC), traffic command center (OTC), technical operation center (TOC), and power operation center (EOC). Two operation centers, as well as the Winter Olympics ski jump arena is located in the Shougang Park.

The Beijing Winter Olympics brought new development opportunities for Shougang and Shougang people in the new era.

Guo Xiaomin, deputy general manager of Shougang Park Sports Center Operation Management Co., Ltd. said: "We are making our own contribution to China's ice and snow and the Winter Olympics. This is also a historical opportunity for Shougang people. We cherish this rare opportunity because it Promote the transformation and development of the enterprise."
