For its first match of the fall, the France team faced a solid Argentina team on Saturday, November 6, in a friendly match at the Stade de France.

At the end of a disputed and tense meeting, the Blues had the last word (29-20) thanks in particular to Thibaud Flament, the most Argentinian of the French.

Before the next 6 Nations Tournament which begins in February, the French rugby team is entitled to a preparatory tour in November. A 100% blue-white-red tour since the three planned matches will take place in France. Before competing against Georgia on November 14, then welcoming the famous New Zealand All Blacks on November 20, Fabien Galthié's men had an appointment with Argentina this Saturday, November 6 at the Stade de France in Saint- Denis.

It had been more than two years since the two selections had faced each other.

The last time was in a group match of the last World Cup, in September 2019. The Blues then won by a hair (23-21).

A victory which was decisive since at the end of the first round, France had obtained its ticket for the quarter-finals, unlike the Argentines.

Flament makes a success of its debut

There was logically much less stake in this friendly meeting of the evening. But there was still tension on the Dionysian lawn. At the end of a choppy and tense first act, the score reflected quite well the physiognomy of the match: the Blues led only 9-7 and had not managed to cross the test line, unlike Tomas Cubelli, who had well countered a dismissal of Matthieu Jalibert (21st). The New Zealand referee, Ben O'Keeffe, had to calm the spirits by sending a yellow card to Julien Marchand and Marcos Kremer.

After the break, the XV of France gave themselves some air thanks to Thibaud Flament. For its first international cape, the second row of Stade Toulousain was ideally found by Jalibert and went to flatten the oval ball in the promised land (50th). A perfect start for this 24-year-old player who played for a year in Argentina, where he lived for a year and where he started his career, with Club Newman.

Another try of the test Peato Mauvaka gave air to the Blues (70th), but the Argentines remained in the game until the end, especially when Mateo Carreras scored a second try (78th).

Without consequence at the finish, since France won (29-20).

Nevertheless, as recognized by Antoine Dupont, captain for the first time, it was a difficult victory and the Blues still have progress to make.

Next test on the Bordeaux side against the Georgians in a week.
