Here he is, world champion.

Two months, after his world records at -116 m and -117 m, achieved this summer in the Bahamas - records broken in the wake by the Russian Alexey Molchanov, at -118 m - the freediver from Marseille Arnaud Jerald has just been crowned champion of the world.

In the competition which took place in Turkey on Saturday, he descended to -116m.

Sufficient depth to clinch the title, competitor Alexey Molchanov having been disqualified after a diving foul.

“I found myself going deep a lot easier than I did at the start of the season,” commented the athlete.

It took one minute and thirty-four seconds to reach -116 m and slightly more to come back to the surface, his total dive time being 3'18 ''.
