At the Spanish sailing classic Trofeo Princesa Sofía, Germany's Olympic candidates have bought the first four tickets for the competitions off Marseille. Ilca-7 helmsman Philipp Buhl, windsurfer Theresa Marie Steinlein and the 2022 windsurfing world champion Sebastian Kördel have cleared all the qualification hurdles. The three top players competing for the North German Regatta Association can expect to be nominated by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) in June.

This also applies to the Olympic bronze medalists from Japan 2021: The Nacra 17 catamaran sailors Paul Kohlhoff/Alica Stuhlemmer, who are racing for the Kiel Yacht Club, are aiming for the helmsman's second joint Olympic appearance and their third overall.

»The faith is there. I am confident that I can win a medal,” said Buhl, 2020 world champion, with a view to the Olympic regatta in Marseille. Kohlhoff said: »We believe that we can do more. And we want more too. But we are proud that we were able to qualify for our second games together and my third games.«

In the Olympic classes Ilca 6 and 49er, however, the players from the German Sailing Team did not make it into the nomination in their final elimination regatta off Mallorca. After two bronze medals by Erik Heil/Thomas Plößel in 2016 and 2021, the German 49er class will probably remain unoccupied at the Olympic regatta in Marseille from July 28th to August 8th for the first time since its Olympic premiere in Sydney 2000.

The awarding of sailing Olympic tickets in the nationally highly competitive 470 mixed, Formula Kite women, Formula Kite men is still open. The three-part elimination series continues here. In the 49erFX, the young Hamburg women Marla Bergmann and Hanna Wille from the Mühlenberger Segel-Club met all the nomination criteria, but still have to fight for the missing German national starting place at the Last Chance Regatta in April off Hyères.
