It was the guests who grabbed the baton initially.

Nelli Laitinen started the scoring when she put it 1-0.

The first period was Finland's best in the match and it rattled in the net once again when Minnamari Tuominen extended their lead to 2-0.

But in the second period, Canada woke up.

First they reduced through Jamie Rattray and only 20 seconds later came the equalizer when Marie-Philip Poulin scored 2-2.

Strongest in the end

In the final period, Canada completed the turnaround when Erin Ambrose scored the 3-2 goal for the home nation.

But Finland did not give up.

Just over five minutes later, the equalizer came when Elisa Holopainen put the puck in goal, assisted by Rosa Lindstedt.

However, Canada would prove to be stronger in the final minutes.

Sarah Fillier put 4-3 and Finland chose to take out the goalkeeper in hopes of another equalizer.

But then Brianne Jenner fixed the final score to 5-3 when she scored in the open box.

Premiere victory for Canada in the home World Cup, which takes place between 20 and 31 August.
