For 15 years, Kacey Bellamy has been a key player in the American national ice hockey team.

The 34-year-old participated in his first Olympic Games in 2010 in Vancouver.

She has since won three silver medals, but it was not until 2018 in PyeongChang, South Korea that she took her first gold.

- It is extremely difficult to describe my career, and it has been a privilege to represent my USA for 15 years, Bellamy says.

"Will be missing"

Only Bellamy and one other player have ever won eight World Cups.

In addition, the American team captain has played the most international matches with his 130 - but there will be no more.

- Kacey's leadership, focus and competitive instinct will be greatly lacking, says Katie Million, operations manager for the women's national team program at USA Hockey.

- She changed what is expected and what it means to give everything for team USA, Million says.
