It was a strong Borås that received Nässjö.

The home team's Avery Woodson started frying when in the first period he lowered two of two possible three points.

The American would continue to be at the center of events.

After the first period, he was listed for ten points.

And a total of 35 points.

Woodson was to continue with his threes - but in the third period he fell to the floor, and there he sat for a while, then left the field.

In the fourth and final period, however, the American was back and struck with another deficit.

After the match, Borås coach Henrik Svensson paid tribute to Woodson's achievements.

"He does it very well sometimes," he said.

Dramatic final minutes

The last period was for lead-heavy drama, for a few minutes it seemed as if the pendulum had swung.

Nässjö was back in the match and was at one point only one point behind the home team.

- We make a brave attempt in the second half and try to fight back.

We do many good things offensively, but it is not really enough today, said Nässjö's coach Joakim Källman.

But Borås would get their act together and with about a minute left, the game worked again for the home team.

And the uphill would be too steep for the guests when the match ended 96-88.

- I am most pleased that we win and have the strength to resist in the fourth quarter.

Results are absolutely a priority, but of course you also have to focus on doing the right thing, Svensson said after the match.

The second match in the best of five will be played in Nässjö Sports Hall on April 24.
