At Roland-Garros,

This fortnight did not end so badly for French tennis.

While the tournament was gloomy among the adults, even if Hugo Gaston and Fiona Ferro brightened it up, the young Elsa Jacquemot won among the juniors this Saturday.

At 17, she beat Russian Alina Charaeva in the final in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-2).

She is the first Frenchwoman to win here since Kristina Mladenovic, in 2009.

YES Elsa !!!

“It's a lot of emotions, she reacted just after receiving the trophy, on court 14. Thank you to the supporters who were there, to everyone.

Winning Roland is a sick thing, especially for a French woman!

I don't have the words, it's incredible.

"

Jacquemot, 525th in the world, had benefited from a wild card for the big table this year.

She had bowed sharply in the first round to Mexican Renata Zarazua.

She was very angry with herself after this defeat, during which stress had caught up with her.

Two weeks later, she leaves Roland with a smile.

And high hopes for the future.
