Edinson Cavani did not leave PSG empty-handed.

If the Matador was not entitled to a departure worthy of his rank with the supporters - Covid context requires - at least he will have brought back a memory of his last hours with his teammates.

In an interview with Uruguayan media

Otra Cabeza

, Edinson Cavani confessed that he and his wife also contracted Covid-19 during the famous vacation in Ibiza with some Parisian players after the Final 8.

“It's something we kept to ourselves and at no point were we going to say it,” he said.

There was nothing to be gained from saying it at that point as long as we followed the protocol that we had to adhere to.

We initially tested negative, then my wife saw some symptoms appear and we retested which came back positive.

The Uruguayan perhaps thought that this information would have looked bad even as he was in the midst of negotiations to find a new base after the end of his contract at PSG.

Cavani placed in quarantine

Unrelated to this information, the

Times

tells us on Wednesday that Cavani will not be able to make his Manchester United debut against Newcastle on October 17th.

The British government imposes a 14-day quarantine on anyone who arrives on its territory from France.

The only exception for high-level athletes: that they have been in a secure bubble as is the case at the moment with the French internationals playing in the Premier League and meeting in Clairefontaine this week.

However, it just so happens that Edinson Cavani was in France in recent weeks, in his future former home in Neuilly-sur-Seine.

The Uruguayan will not be able to find the Mancunian group until the day after the match against the Maggpies.
