Raheem Sterling, the England striker and Manchester City football team, has announced his support for the protests currently taking place in Britain against racism, stressing: "The only disease now is the racism that we are fighting."
Thousands participated in the demonstrations of “The Life of Blacks Important” in various parts of the United Kingdom, despite the government's warnings of large gatherings in light of the emerging epidemic of the Corona virus (Covid 19).
The death of George Floyd, an African American citizen, in the United States on May 25, after a white policeman perched on his neck, sparked a wide wave of protests in the United States against racism and police violence, and protests against racism have spread to other countries.
In the United Kingdom, protest marches were launched in London, Bristol, Manchester, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
"This is the most important thing at the present time, because this (racism) has been going on for many years," said Sterling (25 years) in comments to the BBC.
"Just as with the epidemic, we want to find a solution to stop that (racism)," added Sterling.
He continued: «This is what all these protesters do. They are trying to find a solution and a way to stop the injustice they see, and they are fighting for their cause. ”
He added: «As long as they do so peacefully and safely, and without hurting anyone or breaking into any stores, let them continue to protest in this peaceful way.”
