AS Saint-Etienne general manager Claude Puel wondered on Wednesday about the possible impossibility of playing in the final of the Coupe de France and the possibility of offering a European ticket to the club from Stéphane, 17th in Ligue 1 at the time of the championship stop. ASSE must play the final against PSG, the winner of which wins a ticket for the Europa League, on a date yet to be determined by the French Federation.

If the final is played, Saint-Etienne must win it to obtain the European ticket. In case of victory of PSG, already qualified for the Champions League, the ticket would return to the fifth of Ligue 1, Nice, even to the sixth, Reims, if Paris also wins the League Cup.

Soon a meeting with Le Graët

“We fought to get there. Is it written where in the texts that the 5th or 6th of the championship could take our place? Our presidents (Bernard Caïazzo and Roland Romeyer) and Noël Le Graët (president of the Federation) must meet about the final, "said Puel in an interview published Wednesday in the daily La Tribune-Le Progrès . "The impossibility of playing it was not provided for in the regulations," he said.

"Even if we comply with the Federation's decision, it would be inconceivable for the Coupe de France to have no representative in the European Cup," he insisted.
