The rally-e-sports SM series was started in a hurry by the Swedish Car Sports Association when all other competitions were stopped because of the corona virus, to give drivers the opportunity to compete. It consists of six competitions with eight rallies each. The competition is open to anyone with a license, both e-sports specialists and regular rally drivers.

The riders compete in the game Dirt Rally 2.0's R5 class and have a week to run every competition.

The first offered distances from New Zealand. Robin Jansson from Kolsva finally won quite clearly, with 43 seconds to the good of club buddy Daniel Johansson, also he e-sports specialist. Both have second place on the track record in the Dirt World series, Jansson in rally and Johansson in rallycross.

It became grand slam for little Kolsva, a mill outside Köping with just over 2,000 inhabitants and dating back to the mid-1500s. The three Kimmy Larsson and the four Karl Örtenmark, both e-sports specialists, also compete for Kolsva.

Adielsson an advance favorite

Elias Lundberg, Sala, who won JSM gold in 2017, became the best regular rally driver, with a sixth place, 1.09 after the victory.

Mattias Adielsson, who won the SM gold in the regular rally six times and was third in last year's European Championship series, was one of the favorites. As late as the weekend, he won the surprising e-sports variant of the Barcelona World Cup in rally cross.

But Adielsson's chances in the first World Cup competition disappeared when he got punctured. He was 1.34 behind Jansson in the end and was nine.

332 drivers started and 318 reached the finish line.

The second competition of the series starts today. Now there are eight routes in Australia waiting. The final series of the Swedish Championships, with distances in Sweden, will be decided on May 20-27.
