There were no pallets for Calle Halfvarsson this winter. The last he missed the podium during a season was 2015/16. The past season was hard as he was plagued by stomach problems.

He expressed himself on several occasions.

"There is no point in whether I should continue to have so much trouble," he told SVT Sport at the end of January.

At present, the stomach problems are not solved. When SVT Sport talks to Halfvarsson, he says that ice is due to the corona virus.

- I'm going for some more control in the future, I'm going down to the X-ray in Stockholm, but that has not been relevant right now.

"It takes a lot of effort"

He is at home in Saugmyra and is exercising calmly. The 31-year-old is preparing for the next season and obviously hopes it will be better than before.

- I almost have ... or I've been in the thoughts where I thought "now I shit in it, now I do something else". It takes so much effort. But I often turn it around, you have some kind of super patience. Then I think I'll show up next year, says Halfvarsson.

- But I have to get things in order. It will never work otherwise, no matter how much I exercise or how much I want to succeed.

Have you thought about quitting?

- Not active. I'm set to run at least one more season, and hopefully three. As long as it goes well, I will continue. But it must not be too many seasons like this, then I find it difficult to see that I continue.

The men's coaches leave

There will be changes for the next season. Today, the ski association confirmed that both Mattias Nilsson and Fredrik Uusitalo leave their roles as coach.

- It's boring, of course. They have been good coaches and have had a really good drive.

When the 31-year-old has had a hard time in the track, Mattias Nilsson has lifted him.

- Mattias and I go well together, we have had fun. But I will meet Mattias anyway, we live in the same municipality. He will probably continue to work with the union and he will probably continue to be a coach, maybe I can get help from him at home. We haven't had a snack, but we'll learn to do it this spring.

You will have him as a coach at home?

- Yes, it is not entirely impossible that it will be so.

What did he mean to you?

- A lot. He has had a damn drive and when I have needed a shot in the back he has been there. He has been peppering me. Otherwise, they probably would not have been able to continue. It receives when you have so many hardships, especially things you can't influence. It is very frustrating, especially with the stomach.

- Right now we're just driving. It was special with the ending in Canada, the air went out of one. Then you become lightweight, what should you train for now? Then he again pepped me.
