The current pandemic is boosting innovation in disinfection. A new generation of cleaning robots is coming. They are able to kill all germs in seconds with just light.

Not with any light, with ultraviolet. It is a kind of blue neon that looks like the black light of nightclubs. But so powerful that it acts like kryptonite for DNA. So it instantly destroys all germs and all microorganisms. Until now, this type of ampoule was mainly used in laboratories to sterilize equipment. Now, they are found on robots specifically designed to disinfect buses, subways, hospital rooms and planes (when they are still flying). Their effectiveness is formidable: it takes them two minutes to disinfect a room, three for a bus, five for a subway train (the bars, the seats, the floor). I let you imagine the time it takes today with a pschitt and wipes.

Is it dangerous for humans or not?

Yes, but it's not deadly. As they are UV (ultraviolet), we risk a bad sunburn therefore skin cancer. This is why most of these robots are semi-autonomous. We put them on a bus or in a hospital room. Then they circulate and disinfect on their own. Some can still be operated by humans. But in this case, protective equipment is needed. This is a technique that we are starting to see on air purifiers and which is soon arriving in cars. With this crisis, you can be sure, there will be a huge market for purification and disinfection.
