Summer 2020 would have included a men's soccer championship and a Tokyo Olympics between July 24 and August 9. But both championships are moved to 2021 - where there are already several championships.

The women's soccer championship was scheduled for July 7-August 1, the Sim World Cup is scheduled in Japan, July 16-August 1, and the Athletics World Cup will run August 6-15.

Uefa has previously announced that the women's European Championships will be moved and the International Athletics Association has also opened up to postpone the championship to 2022.

"Would be incredibly surprised"

The Swedish Athletics Federation's captain Karin Torneklint sees it as impossible to organize an athletics World Cup the same summer as an Olympic Games.

- Everything is possible and everything is about creating an almanac to get the championship. But I would be incredibly surprised if you run both championships the same year. It will be a bit cake on cake because it is the same group as the championships apply. Now we have to wait a couple of weeks and see what happens before we know what this and next summer looks like, says Karin Torneklint to SVT Sport.

What does it mean to you that there will be no Olympics this summer?

- That means we lose our biggest goal, but so much is happening now. We simply get to live with it and hope we have the European Championships left so we have something to look forward to. It would feel incredibly empty for a year without a championship.

European Athletics Championships in Paris will take place August 26-30, 2020.

"I've had a big goal"

Karin Torneklint's agreement with the athletics association would have expired after this summer's planned Olympic Games. But now she is opening up to remain as the Confederate.

- I have had as a big goal to work over the Tokyo Olympics and then end my career as a national team captain. After moving to the Olympics, I would like to extend a year if the board and Stefan (Olsson, secretary general) think it would be good.

The International Swimming Association Fina says in a statement that together with the World Cup organizer in Fukuoka, Japan's swimming association and authorities should work to be able to have "flexibility" around the World Cup date if needed, and in agreement with the IOC, according to TT.
