Members of Formula 1 teams present in Melbourne to participate in the Australian Grand Prix placed themselves in voluntary isolation on Wednesday after presenting flu symptoms. They are two members of the Haas team (United States) and one of the McLaren team (England), announced these two teams.

"Two members of the team were showing symptoms and were examined before being placed in voluntary isolation, as they should be, while waiting for the results," said a Haas official.

According to other unconfirmed information, a member of Williams also presented similar symptoms. The Australian GP, ​​the first test of an F1 season already turned upside down by the coronavirus epidemic, is to be disputed on Sunday but the teams arrived at the Melbourne circuit on Wednesday.

Results within 24 hours

This round should in principle be played normally while the next round, that of Bahrain on March 22, will take place behind closed doors without the public. The Chinese GP, originally scheduled for Shanghai on April 19, was postponed to an unspecified date.

According to an official of the Australian Grand Prix organization, the results of the examinations carried out on the members of the teams concerned may not be known before 24 hours. The first tests are scheduled for Friday and press conferences with the pilots are scheduled for Thursday.
