Mikaela Shiffrin announced last week that she was traveling to Scandinavia and that a comeback was imminent. But she did not give any guarantees that she would start in Åre.

Now, however, the American writes that she will compete.

"It feels like the right place to go back to my ski family in the World Cup and try to compete again," she writes on Instagram.

However, Shiffrin points out that she is still devastated and because of this will limit her contacts with the media, fans and competitors. She writes that the restrictions also apply to the corona virus.

"It means no selfies, autographs, hugs, high fives, handshakes or kissing greetings, and limited to interviews if any.

The races in Åre will start in parallel slalom on Thursday.

Shiffrin's dad Jeff died in an accident at his Colorado home on February 2. He turned 65 years old. During his absence, Shiffrin lost the lead in the overall World Cup to Italian Federica Brignone.
