The football calendar is at the heart of a new battle between the bodies of Fifa and UEFA. While the first will organize from June 2021 its brand new club world cup (24 teams entered) in China, UEFA is on its way to draw in its turn a summer competition: a sort of mini Champions League .
The idea of the body led by Aleksander Ceferin is to be based on the International champions cup (ICC), this friendly tournament organized every summer since 2013 and managed by the company Relevent Sports. UEFA would not oversee the competition but would support it by lending its image and logo to the organizer.

According to the Daily Mail , which released the news on Thursday, the project has already been presented to Premier League clubs. This improved tournament, which would bring together eight teams, could eventually integrate the South American teams and would take place in the form of pools of three followed by knockout matches.
This project aims to compete with the Club World Cup, even if it will never be said openly. It could also emerge in the summer of 2012, the launch date of the new Fifa. For the rest, this case makes it possible to realize one thing: at a time when the coaches are constantly warning about the overload of the calendar, their organizers, them, hardly seem to care about their opinion.
